I saw a lynching in Georgia.

Those rednecks committed this crime

With malice, in a malevolent euphoria,

Using a gun this time.

Rat-tit-tat-tat-tat,

This lynching was on television

And Ahmaud is not coming back to chat.

Hoodless men hunted him down with precision.

I saw a lynching in Georgia…

Blast, bang, boom

Blast, bang boom

Blast, bang boom

They used a gun this time, not a noose,

Put three holes in his body,

Grabbed him, and he couldn’t get loose.

This was no SNL parody.

Many unjust murderers

Have roamed these red hills,

Only to be shielded by willing perjurers —

White people hunting BLACK citizens for thrills.

His BLACK mama wept,

On the shoulders of a BLACK minister,

Wondering where the killer’s consciences were kept

While the race problem continues to fester.

I saw a lynching in Georgia.

“True justice is a Black man not having to worry about being killed while jogging.”

— Senator Raphael Warnock (D-Ga.)
